Tim Vantol. Große Vorfreude machte sich breit, als es hieß, dass Tim Vantol als Support von Dave Hause in Bremen dabei sein wird. Ich hatte es vorher noch nie geschafft, ihn mir anzusehen. Entweder kam irgendetwas dazwischen oder er spielte nicht in Hamburg. Irgendwas ist ja immer! Im Tower angekommen hieß es: Warten. Warten. Warten. Der Club füllte sich langsam und wir entschieden uns dafür, uns vorne hinzustellen. Was sich eigentlich auch später als Fehler rausstellen sollte. Tim begann. Gleichzeitig hatte sich auf unserer rechten Seite eine kleine Gruppe versammelt, bereits „leicht“ angetrunken, die sofort anfingen zu reden, während Tim auf der Bühne sein bestes gab. Ständig brüllten sie irgendetwas dazwischen, um die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich zu ziehen. Tim hielt sich tapfer. Und ich hätte fast einen Mord begangen.

Fremdschämen war angesagt. So langsam kristallisierte sich heraus: Das waren seine Fans. Besserwisser- Fans. Gästelisten- Schnorrer. Eigentlich sagt man ja immer: Jedem Musiker die Fans, die er verdient. Aber: Das hat Tim ganz sicher nicht verdient! Nein!

Entschuldigung, aber: Wenn man sich so als „Hardcore-Fans“ darstellt- warum hat man dann keinen Respekt? Warum hält man einfach nicht die Klappe? Für 40 Minuten? Ist das so schwer?

Nur bei dem Song „Nothing“ trat bei der Gruppe plötzlich ruhe ein. Und es wurde bei dem Refrain mitgekreischt, was das Zeug hielt. Meine Ohren begannen zu bluten.

Zwischendurch wurde Dave auf die Bühne geholt, der sich den Auftritt vom Bühnenrand ansah. Zusammen performten sie einen Song, wo sich Herr Hause aber doch hier und da verzettelte. Aber trotzdem sprühte es nur so vor Charme, was die zwei dort fabrizierten.

Später auch sehr schön: Als Dave an der Reihe war, hielten sich die Leute auf der rechten Seite kein Stück zurück. Er machte sich über sie lustig, was diese aber nicht mehr wirklich mitbekamen. Jedenfalls hatten die restlichen Besucher ihren Spaß.

Ein kleiner Dialog entwickelte sich dann zwischen Dave und Tim. Herr Hause bedankte sich recht herzlich bei Herrn Vantol, dass er diese Leute auf die Gästeliste gesetzt hatte. Göttlich!

Und da ich Tim in mein Herz geschlossen habe, fragte ich ihn einfach mal, ob er bei der „Some words about…“- Reihe mitmachen möchte. Und er hat zugesagt! Vielen vielen Dank dafür, lieber Tim!

Dave Hause

A great and funny guy, who knows how to say the right things on the right moments. Great performer. Great songwriter.

Chuck Ragan

He’s the guy who opened my eyes. I saw him playing in Rotterdam couple of years ago. I was struggling with my band that I had back than. When I saw him, I thought: “That guy is so right!!!”, and so I started out with what I’m still doing.
Beside that he’s one of the friendliest guys around together with his crew, and he’s probably also the reason why I’m still doing this. But I had a hard time the first year: long tours, my health, hardly had money, lost most of my friends cause my social-life-I was at the point of freaking out. And then I went on tour with him, and that helped a lot.

the last tour in Germany

My last tour in Germany is just finished. Well, it wasn’t only Germany, but we did a lot of dates their. It was great, most of the shows were packed and so much fun. Germany knows how to setup good shows, the promoters are doing a great job and everybody is so friendly and they know how to take care of you.

the German crowd

The German crowds are really good! There’s always “the drunk” and a lot of great people. The support of the German crowds are awesome. I see the same faces who will bring new once with them on so many shows, which is really awesome, really appreciate their support.

your band

I got a bunch of friends with me every year for a fullband tour they go by the name: The Misprints. And that’s so much fun! I’m trying to bring people from different countries: we’ve had guys from USA, Holland, Germany, Austria, England and Sweden. They are mostly friends of mine that I’ve met on the Road and which I think they would be fun to have around. It’s so much fun, like a school-trip.

the first show you ever played

It was in Amsterdam with Austin Lucas on the 23rd of may 2009. It was also my goodbye show as I was moving to Sweden back then. I still remember I was scared as hell just 5 minutes before the show. I was used to have some guys with me on stage- my previous bands- and now all eyes were focused on me, scary stuff. I couldn’t blame anyone for making fuck ups, but I survived.

your biggest mistake on stage

Singing the lyrics of one song on the guitar part of another song, although it really worked out. Falling on stage happened back in the days also so now and then. Ow and when I played with my old band Short Answers and we went on stage and I opened with: “Hello we are For Japan!” That was the band I had before Short Answers.

the biggest compliment for your music

People that show up at the shows and leave with a smile on their face. All the support I got from so many people. That keeps me on doing this.

your future plans, when you were a child

I hardly can remember, probably like any other kid: fireman, police officer, etc.! I started out with music kinda late (15 I think) and I never planned to do this fulltime. So you just see that everything is possible.

I want to keep the controle. It’s hard for me to give it away.

being on tour

It´s freedom. Being on tour: Is seeing a lot of this beautiful planet where I would probably never come if I wouldn’t make music.
